Capt. Jeyaraj Thamburaj

Capt. Jeyaraj has over 35 years of experience in the maritime ports and shipping domains. Starting his career as a seafarer, Capt. Jeyaraj worked with leading ship management companies and captained tankers, bulk carriers, and container vessels, before joining DP World’s Chennai Terminal as Head of Operations, from where he moved to APM Terminal’s Pipavav port as General Manager - Operations.

He later joined the Adani Group, serving in key positions across India. He is currently based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, serving as the CEO of Tanzania East Africa Gateway Terminal Limited.

Capt. Jeyaraj is an avid reader and keeps himself updated on the latest trends in the industry.

Lucie Bwana

Head of HR

Lucie Bwana is the Head of Human Resources, bringing over 20 years of extensive experience in human capital management, organizational development, and industrial relations. She holds an MBA, Business Administration and Bachelor of Social Science (Organisational Psychology and Industrial Sociology).

At TEAGTL, Lucie leads the Human Resources functions to support the company’s operational growth and sustainability goals.

In addition to her professional achievements, Lucie is passionate about community development and actively participates in initiatives aimed at promoting workplace learning and youth empowerment in Tanzania.

Donald Talawa

Head - Corporate Affairs

With over 30 years of experience in the Ports sector, Donald is one of the foremost experts in the Tanzanian maritime industry.

Donald manages Corporate Affairs and also has handled commercial functions, where he was responsible for liaising with customers, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.

Laksiri Nonis

Chief Operations Officer

Originally from Sri Lanka, Laksiri has worked across the globe, including in Africa, holding various senior level positions in the Ports and Maritime industry.

His previous assignment was COO in Lome, Togo, at the Lome Container Terminal. Possessing over 35 years of experience, Laksiri brings with him considerable expertise in all aspects of ports and terminal operations.

Geofrey Mwavalla

Head of Operations

With over twenty years of experience in the container terminal industry, Geofrey has developed a deep understanding of terminal operations, logistics management, and supply chain optimization. He has worked in a variety of roles, from clerical level to senior manager, contributing significantly to the efficiency, safety, and growth of the terminal environment.

Geofrey is well-versed in handling containerized cargo, managing port equipment, and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders across shipping lines, transporters, ICDs and regulatory bodies.

Balaji Raman

CFO

Balaji is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a finance management professional, possessing over 28 years of experience in corporate finance and management functions.

A veteran of the African market, Balaji’s experience spans across diverse industries, ranging from Banking & Financial Services, Contracting, Trading, Distribution, Airline, Construction, Ports & Logistics, BPO, IT & ITES, and Retail.

Apart from his professional pursuits, Balaji is a talented singer and likes listening to Indian classical music.

Rohit Thaker

CTO

A Postgraduate in IT, Rohit has extensive experience in driving large transformative engagements in various domains, such as Ports, Mining, Energy & Utility, and EPC & Manufacturing industries.

Rohit spearheads TEAGTL’s digital transformation initiatives, vital to our long-term vision of developing a smart and efficient port.

Rohit’s areas of focus are delivering growth, cost-effectiveness and efficiency, in the areas of IT operations, Project management, and IT/IOT system design/implementations.

In his spare time, Rohit likes to travel and play cricket.

Emmanuel Mkaro

Tax & Treasury FP&A Manager

Emmanuel Mkaro is a seasoned finance professional with over 14 years of experience, specializing in tax management and financial planning and analysis, of which 8 years have been in the shipping industry.

Emmanuel holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Dar es Salaam, and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-T) registered with the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) in Tanzania. He has also completed advanced training in International Taxation, equipping him with the expertise to navigate complex financial landscapes across borders.

Joseph Masana

Head of Industrial Relations

Joseph is the Head of Industrial Relations at TEAGTL, handling this role since 2017. Prior to this, Joseph worked in the Banking sector for over 23 years.

In his current role, Joseph is responsible for ensuring smooth communication and coordination between the Management and DOWUTA, thereby ensuring effective engagement and harmonious relations.

Lijocha O. Nalitolela

IT HEAD

Lijocha has over 20 years of extensive experience in Information Technology, having worked previously in banking and public health industries. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Mathematics and Computer Science majors from the University of Dar Es Salaam, as well as the world-renowned CISA and CISM certifications from ISACA.

Lijocha is an experienced IT Professional, with wide experience in IT Risk Management and Controls, IT Operations Management and Projects.

In his spare time, he likes to run and play sports (football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis), loves music, and enjoys dancing.

Getrude Lamu

Head of Administration

Getrude joined Tanzania East Africa Gateway Terminal Ltd in 2007 and has steadily advanced through various roles to become the Head of the Administration Department. With over 17 years of experience at TEAGTL, she brings deep Organizational knowledge, dedication, and a strong commitment to operational excellence.

She holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and has led several key initiatives to strengthen administrative systems, employee engagement, and organizational compliance.

Goodluck Lyimo

Head Legal

With over a decade of experience as an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania, Goodluck brings extensive expertise in corporate legal services, commercial litigation, banking, and labor laws, complemented by proficiency in company secretarial services, corporate governance and with a strong focus on supporting container terminal services and related industries.

Goodluck is a member of the Tanganyika Law Society (TLS) and East Africa Law Society (EALS), delivering impactful legal solutions with a focus on compliance and business strategy.

Victorin S.

Head of Finance

Victorin S. Swai is the Head of Finance for TEAGTL who has extensive working experience across several industries both in public and private sectors, playing key leadership roles in financial operations and compliance, analysis and business support, budgeting and reporting, internal auditing and risk management. In the shipping industry, he has 10+years of managerial and leadership experience, managing the full accounting cycles and enhancing financial and business processes, automation and systems implementation.

After work hours, Victorin prefers much to play aerobics and football.

Victorin is a Certified Public Accountant from the National Board of Accountants and Auditors Tanzania.
